The F/ACT Movement project wants to create sustainable consumption of fashion and to inspire and promote business development that supports sustainable lifestyles in line with the circular economy.
In 2019, ten F/activists took part of a six-month “shopping detox” where they were inspired to activate their wardrobes without buying any newly produced garments. Through inspiration from experts, they learned about repair, remake and care for their garments and accessories. In monthly meetings, the activists reflected and talked about their experiences and were encouraged to share their thoughts via their own Instagram accounts. Inspiring others and spreading the F/ACT Movement message more widely.
In 2020, the F/ACT movement is expanding to several F/activist groups in Sweden. Could this movement be the start that changes how we as consumers look upon our clothes, and inspire the fashion industry to find new business opportunities?
Project driven by Göteborgsregionen and Science Park Borås.

Sustainable consumption may seem contradictive and far-fetched. However, in the space between these words, opportunities for new behaviors, policy instruments, and business models open up, allowing for more conscious consumption.
Platforms such as F/ACT Movement have now been established to help fashion consumers to make more conscious decisions while at the same time enhancing their ability to express themselves through their outfits.
Consumer’s desire to make more sustainable choices, governmental green incentives, and industry’s resource conscious innovation give opportunities to create better systems that allow consumers more opportunities to live out their desire for fashion and textiles.
